Tim Grant

Tim Grant is a retired Captain from the New York City Fire Department, a member of the FDNY Emerald Society Bagpipe Band for over 30 years, and a proud second-generation Irish-American. With deep family roots tracing back to Crossmaglen, Newry, Belmullet, and Bangor Erris, Tim maintains a close connection to his heritage by traveling to Ireland frequently. Whether he is reconnecting with family or enjoying a round of golf on one of the island's many courses, he considers Ireland a second home.

Tim has a lifelong passion for Irish music and is always in search of an authentic session to enjoy traditional and folk music. He loves immersing himself in the local sound, and you’ll often find him ready to lend his own voice to a song. He has a profound appreciation for the warmth and character of the Irish people, a connection that draws him back to the country time and again.

Photo was taken with Tim in the Garden of Remembrance - Kinsale, Ireland, where a tree was planted for each firefighter that lost their life on 9/11. Tim kneels at the tree planted for his close friend and bagpipe band member Durrell "Bronko" Pearsall.
